Outer Banks Tastes Good So Far in 2024
On February 24th, a collective sigh of relief was heard across the Outer Banks as restaurant owners learned of Governor Roy Cooper easing some of the state’s COVID-19 restrictions. With North Carolina’s COVID-19 numbers trending downward, this announcement was a welcome one.
This Executive Order lifts the previous Modified Stay at Home Order and allows businesses to stay open past 10 p.m. In addition to extended operating hours, the order also increased the number of people allowed to gather indoors from 10 to 25, and the curfew for the sale of alcohol for onsite consumption has been extended to 11 p.m.
Patrons are still encouraged to wear masks, wait 6 feet apart, and wash their hands often to help slow the spread of the virus.
Ask anyone on the Outer Banks and they’ll tell you that the energy has noticeably shifted. Businesses are shaking off the dust and getting ready for another early start to their seasons. Restaurants are taking advantage of last year’s success and opening early to get a jump on their spring and summer seasons. This early start also gives patrons more chances to get their favorite Outer Banks staples! We can’t complain, as it makes it feel like summer is right around the corner! On top of that, more and more people are moving to the Outer Banks and taking advantage of opportunities to work from home and utilize virtual schooling. Because of this, everyone on the Outer Banks is anticipating another busy season with restaurants working overtime to keep up with online orders, while also managing their in-person traffic.
