Halloween Island & Ghostly Gallies transforms the town of Manteo and Kill Devil Hills into a month-long celebration with themed pop-up bars, family-friendly events, and a Halloween passport challenge that supports local businesses and charities.

Outer Banks Haunted Halloween Bars & Events

This year Outer Banks halloween has two collections of Halloween Bars & Events. Ghostly Gallies in Kill Devil Hills and Halloween Island in Manteo.

Here’s what you can expect from each!

Ghostly Gallies of the Outer Banks – October 10-31, 2026

A shadowy ship is sailing past the beach bringing frightful sights! From October 10-31, 2026, the Ghostly Gallies of the Outer Banks pop-up bar event will chill you to the bone. Prepare for an eerie adventure as four local bars embrace the Halloween spirit with killer décor, deliectable foods, chilling cocktails, mocktails, and devilishly good fun.

Ghostly Gallies Party Bus

Ghostly Gallie’s attendees are encouraged to jump on board for a special VIP pub crawl with Party Buses running , for a safe way to visit the creepy collection of four Halloween pop-up bars! From spine-tingling sips to frightfully good bites, they will be serving up ghoulishly good times.

You’ll be riding one of the most spooktacular vehicles on the beach: The OBX Party Bus or The OBX Party Shuttle! Rides depart Fridays, Saturdays, and the Thursday before Halloween. See all available dates.

Cost is $45 and for attendees 21+. Feel free to bring your beer, wine and seltzers to enjoy on the ride. Coolers, ice and cups will be provided. Please no personal coolers or liquor.

We will meet at the Dare Center Shopping Centre parking lot at 7:15pm, at the southeast corner of the parking lot, in front of Little Caesar’s Pizza. The bus will leave promptly at 7:30pm.

Halloween Island in Manteo – October 3-31, 2026

This October, the town of Manteo is hosting Halloween Island, sponsored by the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, in an extended event series.

Halloween JACK rises once again from the marshes of Shallowbag Bay to unleash Halloween Island, a month-long town takeover featuring:

  • 13 Haunted Pop-Up Bars
  • 13 Spooky Shops
  • 13 Haunted Inns
  • 13 Seasonal Events
  • Benefitting 13 Local Charities
  • Sponsored by 13 Local Businesses

The kick off is the First Friday in Downtown Manteo, on October 3rd. There is a sneak preview on October 2nd at Pioneer Theatre with Halloween International Film Festival premiere.

Halloween Island Passport Challenge

Running Thursday through Sunday each weekend, the event invites visitors to explore downtown Manteo with a Halloween passport that includes stops at bars and restaurants. Each location has its own Halloween theme, and completed passports can be redeemed for prizes.

Collect stamps at each bar and spooky shop for:

  • A Passport Completion Reward
  • Entry into weekly raffles for gift cards and local swag
  • Kid-friendly version with rewards for little ghouls

Pick up your Halloween Island Passport at any participating bar or restaurant, then visit each of the 13 themed locations to collect a stamp. Just show your passport when you stop in, order a drink or snack, and get one step closer to completing the challenge. Once you’ve collected them all, you’ll unlock an exclusive reward and be entered into weekly raffles with prizes from local businesses.

2026 Pop-Up Halloween Bars in Manteo

Here’s a look at the bars and restaurants bringing the Halloween spirit to life this year, each with its own theme, décor, and seasonal menu just for the occasion.

 Nou VEINS Vampire Bar – NouVines

NouVines transforms into NouVEINS for Halloween Island, bringing a dark, moody twist to your wine night. This pop-up vampire bar leans into gothic vibes with dramatic lighting, deep reds, and a wine list that feels perfectly suited to the theme.

Classic Monsters Cinema Bar – The Pioneer Theater

One of the oldest running theaters in America kicks off Halloween Island with a theme that honors the originals: Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, and more. Inside the Pioneer, expect classic monster vibes, vintage-inspired decor, and signature drinks to match. It’s also the site of the Halloween Island Launch Party on Thursday, October 2, which coincides with the opening night of the Halloween International Film Festival. This is where the first passports and Halloween Island merch will drop, making it the official starting point for the month-long celebration.

Frankentender Mad Scientist Bar – Firetender

For Halloween Island, Firetender takes on a mad scientist twist with Frankentender, a themed pop-up that channels classic laboratory vibes. The atmosphere leans into the unexpected, with experimental cocktails and a playful take on the “science gone wrong”. It’s a fun stop for creative drinks and a unique setting.

Mimi’s Murder Hut Slasher Bar – Mimi’s Tiki Hut

Mimi’s Tiki Hut joins Halloween Island with a slasher-themed pop-up bar, blending its laid-back setting with subtle nods to classic horror. It’s a casual stop on the passport trail where you can grab a drink and keep the night going, no jump scares, just a good time.

Witches on the Scuppernong – Vineyards on the Scuppernong

Vineyards on the Scuppernong turns into Witches on the Scuppernong for Halloween Island, leaning into a moody, potion-inspired atmosphere. Expect seasonal wines, a cozy setup, and just the right amount of witchy detail. It’s a quieter stop on the passport route, perfect for a slower-paced evening with a glass in hand.

Poor Witchard’s Witchcraft Bar- Poor Richards

Poor Richard’s flips the script for Halloween Island with Poor Witchard’s, a casual pop-up bar with a playful take on witchcraft and spells. It’s still the no-frills local hangout people love, but with a seasonal twist and a Halloween Island stamp waiting behind the bar. Easygoing, familiar, and worth the stop.

 PhanToms Haunted Opera Bar – Old Tom’s Beer, Wine & Provisions

Old Tom’s becomes Phantoms for Halloween Island, a haunted opera house–inspired pop-up with vintage flair and moody ambiance. The theme leans into classic theatrical spookiness, think dim lighting, old-world touches, and a quiet sense of drama. A great stop for something a little off the beaten path.

Platform 15 8/7 Harry Potter Bar – 1587 Restaurant & Lounge

1587 Restaurant & Lounge joins the Halloween Island lineup with Platform 15 8/7, a pop-up inspired by the magical world of Harry Potter – think trains, travel, and hidden passageways. Expect an elevated setting with subtle nods to fantasy, ideal for a well-made drink in a quieter, more refined atmosphere. It’s tucked inside the Tranquil Hallows Inn, making it a perfect pairing with a fall weekend stay.

 Dead Sailors Society Ghost Ship Bar – Outer Banks Distilling

Outer Banks Distilling transforms its Wheelhouse Lounge into Dead Sailors Society for Halloween Island, embracing a shipwrecked, maritime-haunt theme inspired by the Graveyard of the Atlantic. As the home of Kill Devil Rum, this stop brings local flavor with craft cocktails that lean into their signature spirits. Expect a moody, nautical vibe and a standout setting that blends history, legend, and a good pour.

  Madame Olive’s Haunted Mansion – Olive’s A Greek Kitchen

Olive’s joins the Halloween Island lineup with Madame Olive’s Haunted Mansion, a themed pop-up bar that brings spooky sophistication to the mix. Expect dramatic décor and a limited menu of seasonal cocktails created just for the occasion. It’s a fresh addition to the passport trail, and one you won’t want to miss.

Gortega’z Zombie Apocalypse Bar –  Ortega’z Southwestern Grill

Ortega’z Southwestern Grill brings a post-apocalyptic twist to Halloween Island with Gortega’z, a zombie-themed bar featuring a special food and drink menu just for the season. It’s a lively, offbeat stop where you can refuel with bold flavors and collect another stamp toward your passport prize.

Vicki B’s Beetlejuice Bar – VB’s

VB’s Manteo goes full Beetlejuice with Vicki B’s, a bold and playful pop-up bar inspired by the cult classic. With eye-catching décor, quirky vibes, and themed cocktails, this spot brings a splash of weird (in the best way) to Halloween Island. It’s a fun, over-the-top stop that adds personality to your passport crawl.

While the pop-up bars bring the themed cocktails and after-dark fun, Halloween Island also includes several family-friendly events worth checking out:

  • Halloween International Film Festival – Catch spooky, thrilling, and imaginative films during this annual festival at The Pioneer Theater, running October 2 – 4, 2026.
  • Dare to Scare 5K & Sweet Treat Fun Run – On October 25, lace up for the 5K race, then stick around for the Sweet Treat Fun Run, a kid-friendly event with festive snacks and a fun atmosphere.
  • 12th Annual Outer Banks Halloween ParadeA Kill Devil Hills tradition, this popular costume parade is a can’t-miss celebration for locals and visitors alike, fun for all ages.
  • Vampire Blood Drive at NouVEINS On Saturday, October 25, stop by the NouVines pop-up vampire bar to donate during the Vampire Blood Drive, supporting the local community while embracing the spooky spirit.
  • Island Farm Pumpkin Patch – Every Saturday in October, visit Island Farm in Manteo to pick out a pumpkin and visit the historic farm.
